Cleansing Methods: For Home, Oracle Decks & Body

Tomorrow's Full Moon in Leo is also an eclipse, so I thought it would be fun to share some of my cleansing methods for my decks, my home and my body. Normally I do this stuff on the New Moon, but I am slowly adopting it for the Full Moon.

Sage:

Sage is an amazing plant. It smells great, purifies the air and the skin and is probably the best energy balancer there is.

The form of sage I use most is incense. It is the way I cleanse my decks and home most often. I will also use dried sage branches if I need something a little stronger.

One thing I want to stress is that I DO NOT smudge. Smudging is a Native American practice that I have no business doing because that would be cultural appropriation and very offensive.

The way I look at it is, if I did a traditional smudge ceremony, the energy of me taking something sacred and using it when I am not part of that culture is not the type of energy I want replacing what I am trying to cleanse.

One of my favourite incense crafters is Midheaven Incense and her shop can be found here: https://www.etsy.com/ca/shop/MidheavenIncense

Rosemary:

Another herb I use lately is Rosemary. If you are like me and get bouts of brain fog definitely look into this one. It is known for calming and helping with your memory.

My way of using it is I take fresh branches and boil them in water. From there I do a steam or add it to a bath.

*do not use rosemary if you suffer from seizures*

Eucalyptus and Peppermint:

This combination of plants is a favourite of mine. I make a body oil that I use not only for cleansing, but also when I am sick. It is super easy to make and if you have any essential oils on hand, make it these two.

Recipe:

  • 15ml glass bottle with a dropper
  • Carrier oil - fill the bottle
  • 3-4 drops peppermint essential oil
  • 7-8 drops of eucalyptus oil

Shake well to mix and apply to chest, throat, wrists and temples.

Quartz Crystals:

An effective all purpose method for your decks, your home and your body. Throw them in a bath, place them around your home, lay them on decks or just keep one in your pocket. Cleansing does not need to be complicated to work.
